Community Outreach Officer
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COMMUNITY OUTREACH OFFICER
- Advocate for Utopia Theatre externally, to ensure the organisation has a strong connection with key organisations and contacts in the city.
- Be proactive in developing, delivering and refreshing our local community engagement plan and associated activities (especially with families, schools and businesses)
- Regularly update and liaise with people on our community engagement contact database
- Organise opportunities for upskilling the team around our approach to engagement
- Expand our artist engagement with our online audience
- Be the first point of contact for event enquiries online and co-ordinate the management of our activities online
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager and the Youth Academy team members to ensure a streamlined plan of activity which engages the right audiences,
- Gather materials which help tell the story of Utopia’s community engagement on social media and website
- Order materials and refreshments for community engagement activities.
- Watch Utopia’s productions, give feedback and write reviews
- Contribute to strategic meetings surrounding our programmes
- Share ideas with Utopia staff and Trustees
- Curate your own events and panels
- Observe and present at a Board meeting and the Annual General Meetings
- Network with peers in the performing arts and charity arts sector
LOGISTICAL
- Set up and clear down at community engagement sessions. This will include elements such as refreshments, materials etc.
- Represent Utopia Theatre and welcome participants joining community engagement sessions in our space.

Salary:
£21,000 per annum pro rata -
Contract Type:
Fixed Term - 6 months with an option to renew
Probationary period 3 months -
Holiday entitlement:
25 days plus statutory holidays (pro rata) -
Hours:
16 hours per week including a lunch break of 1 hour, worked over 2 days from Tuesday to Thursday. Additional hours may be necessary to fulfil the requirements of the post, including evenings and weekends, and travel out of Sheffield when required. -
